The Mt. Pleasant High School Choir has announced its upcoming performance for March.
“We are doing ‘The Wedding Singer’ musical,” said Marlene DePriest, choir director at Mt. Pleasant High School. “A lot of people will recognize it from the Adam Sandler movie. Its 1980s music, and the kids are super excited about performing it.”
The production of “The Wedding Singer” will be performed March 17-20 at the Heatilator Performing Arts Center.
“The kids are having a good time trying to figure out what that particular style of 80s music that is being performed,” said DePriest. “They are really excited to do something that we have not done before.”
While the sets are in production and the costumes are being selected, many of the students are watching “The Wedding Singer” movie for inspiration. Others have taken to watching other schools productions on YouTube to get ideas on sets, costumes and the overall look of the production.
“This coming weekend we are having a major choreography session,” said DePriest. “They will be learning all of the choreography for all of the songs on Thursday through Sunday. They will be putting in some long hours studying the dance routines.”
