Mt. Pleasant JV boys up record with wins against Keokuk, Fairfield
The Mt. Pleasant boys? JV basketball team upped its record to 9-4 with a win over Keokuk on Friday, recoving from a narrow loss to Muscatine earlier in that week.

The Mt. Pleasant boys? JV basketball team upped its record to 9-4 with a win over Keokuk on Friday, recoving from a narrow loss to Muscatine earlier in that week.
The boys defeated the Chiefs by a score of 59-43.
?It was a close game until about two minutes left in the fourth quarter, when we made a run and stretched out the lead,? said Tyler Rodgers, JV coach. ?The boys played a solid game and were maybe the sharpest they?ve been all year for a complete game.?
Dustin Amos led all scorers with 17 points, followed by Logan Mulford with 15 points on five 3-pointers. Zach Mulford and Tyler Pace each added nine points.
Amos and Pace each had seven rebounds apiece, followed by Zach Mulford and Logan Mulford with six each. Trey Magnani had four assists, while Pace and Amos both had three.
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the boys had played Muscatine, but they dropped that contest by a score of 56-53.
?In a back-and-forth game, we had a chance at the end and just came up short,? Rodgers said. ?I was proud of how hard we played and never quit, but sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn?t.?
Magnani dropped in 11 points for the Panthers in the contest. Logan Mulford added 10, and Pace had eight. Pace led the rebounding with seven followed by Logan Mulford and Magnani with six and five, respectively. Amos had three assists.
The Friday before, Jan. 13, the JV boys? team defeated Fairfield, 59-49.
?A lot people made plays throughout the game to answer everything Fairfield threw at us,? Rodgers said.
Amos paced the scoring with 12 points, followed by Zach Mulford and Pace with 10 apiece. Magnani had three 3-pointers for nine points and Aaron Kelly made some nice drives to add eight points.
Magnani added three steals. Amos grabbed eight rebounds and three assists, while Kelly also had three assists.
The JV team will play again on Friday, Jan. 27, in Mt. Pleasant. The Panther boys will take on Ft. Madison in a freshmen, JV and varsity tripleheader. The freshmen game starts at 4:45 p.m., followed by JV around 6 p.m. and varsity at about 7:30 p.m.
