MT. PLEASANT - If you or a loved one are worried about your legacy, the future of our community, or just feeling generous, why not make a donation to the community library? Goodness knows they could use the funds.
There are many ways to help. You can leave a general donation, money available for any cause the library deems fit, book acquisitions, the painting of murals, general repairs, and it will be appreciated. But, some donors have bequeathed funds with more specialized goals in mind.
Recently, with the death of band teacher Keith Thomas, his memorial fund covered the cost of dozens of books about music. In honor of her 6-year-old son Robbie, dead of pneumonia in 1944, Roberta McCoid supported the Library for years, supporting the Children’s Wing. Robbie’s portrait still hangs in Chief librarian Kayleigh Septer’s office. His younger brother would grow up to be Judge David McCoid, who, in his volunteer work and philanthropy, continued his mother’s tradition of public service. After his passing in 2022, he too left a donation for the library.
Anyone who wishes to do the same may contact Library Director Kayleigh Septer, or any other library staff at 319-385-1490.
