Mt. Pleasant Library opens full time

The Mt. Pleasant Public Library has seen a slow trickle of the community come into the library since it fully reopened Monday.
'It's been a bit slow this week because I think the public still thinks they need appointments to come in, but I imagine we'll see more foot traffic here soon,” Mt. Pleasant Public Library Director Kayleigh Septer said.
Previously, the library required the public to make hourly appointments when the library started its first stage of reopening. Septer and the library board wanted to ensure the public's safety when COVID cases were spiking again, so they opted to open the library in stages.
'When we initially opened back in February, there were a few adjustments we had to make,” Septer said. 'Overall, that first stage went well and our board decided to move forward with opening up the library fully.”
Although patrons no longer need to make an appointment, and there aren't time constraints for being in the library, it still is recommended that masks be worn and social distancing measures be followed. The museum in the library will remain closed until further notice, and there will be no children's programming or other library programming at this time.
Computer time will be limited to one hour with no games.
'We're excited to be open again, and we can't wait for things to go back to a sense of normal the further in the year we get,” Septer said.
