The Mt. Pleasant Public Library reopened its doors to the public Monday.
The library had been closed and offering pickup only since November for COVID safety reasons.
'It'll be an interesting process, us opening back up,” library Director Kayleigh Septer said. 'It'll be a learning curve, but we're eager to get patrons back into the library.”
'I feel good about the library opening back up,” children's librarian Amy Willson said. 'Though our main focus right now is providing resources for our patrons, such as computers and faxes, I'll be happy when we can get more involved with the kids again.
In order to safely open to the public, the library has some restrictions and regulations for patrons to follow.
Only 10 people will be allowed in the library at a time (children under the age of 2 do not count toward this limit).
An appointment must be made before your visit, so call us to reserve your spot (319) 385-1490.
Appointments will need to be made for all services - copies, reserve pickup and computer use. No walk-ups will be allowed for any service.
Appointments are limited to one hour only. If you arrive 15 minutes late, entry will not be permitted.
Study room and meeting room usage is not permitted unless an exam needs to be proctored.
Finally, anyone age 2 and over must wear a mask properly for the entire duration of their visit. This includes wearing a mask in the hall before entering the library. If you do not have a mask, you will not be allowed in and you will forfeit your time slot.
Librarians will still be allowing atrium pickup through the end of February. Books will be placed on the cart at 9 a.m. only.
