Mt. Pleasant man charged with multiple drug counts

Mt. Pleasant resident Zackary Daniel Kirkbride, 36, was charged with multiple drug felonies after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office allegedly found more than five grams of methamphetamine, more than eight grams of psilocybin mushrooms, liquid T.H.C., drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. He was held in jail on a $300,000 bond.
On April 6 at 5:13 a.m., the sheriff’s deputies stopped Kirkbride near the intersection of 265th St and Iowa Avenue south of Mt. Pleasant. After an investigation, it was found that Kirkbride allegedly had multiple drug substances and a firearm.
As a result of the traffic stop and ongoing narcotics intelligence, a search warrant was obtained and executed at Kirkbride’s residence near Mt. Pleasant. According to the sheriff’s office report, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, liquid T.H.C., heroin, drug paraphernalia and another firearm were located and seized.
As a result of both investigations, Zackary Daniel Kirkbride was charged with the following: three counts of drug tax stamp violations (Class D felony), controlled substance violation-heroin (Class C felony), controlled substance biolation- psilocybin (Class C felony), two counts of a controlled substance violation-methamphetamine (Class B felony), controlled substance violation-marijuana (Class D felony), two counts of dominion/control of a firearm/offensive eeapon by domestic abuse offender (Class D felony), two counts of violation of no contact/protective order-contempt (simple misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor.)
Kirkbride was also given a citation for failing to provide financial liability and a written warning for the non-functioning brake light.
Assisting the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was the Iowa State Patrol and the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force.
