Mt. Pleasant natives, teammates take third in culinary knowledge

Nate Allred and Heather Hughes, both of Mt. Pleasant, were members of a five-member team of culinary art students from Indian Hills Community College that received bronze medals for their third place finish in the Knowledge Bowl Competition at the recent American Culinary Federation Central Regional Conference in Little Rock, Ark.
The day-long competition was done in a Jeopardy game-style format and consisted of questions from five different areas of the culinary field. Students from 10 culinary schools competed in the contest.
Other members of the team included Guadalupe Dorado of Ottumwa; Sara Valentine of Seattle, Wash.; and Kellie Vetter of Fairfield. Curt Goudy of Ottumwa served as the team?s student coach. Indian Hills pastry chef Mark Fisher accompanied the students to the conference.
