Mt. Pleasant notifies public of snow ordinance

The city of Mt. Pleasant wants the public to know about the snow ordinance it will enforce this winter.
The notice reads as follows:

You are hereby notified that the City of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, has deter-mined that you are in violation of Sections 13-16 through 13-70 of the City Code.
Violation: On the sidewalks adjacent to your property - failure to remove any snow accumulation greater than 1 inch caused naturally or by manmade events within 12 hours / 24 hours of snowfall, or failure to remove or treat ice/slush accumulation so that the sidewalk is not slippery within 12 hours / 24 hours of accumulation.
Action Required to Abate Nuisance: Remove snow accumulation within 24 hours of the posting of this notice. Remove ice/slush accumulation or treat so that the sidewalk is slip resistant within 24 hours of the posting of this notice.
City Action Will Be Taken if Nuisance is Not Abated: If the nuisance or condi-tion described in this Notice to Abate Nuisance is not abated as directed and you do not request for hearing within 24 hours of the Notice to Abate Nui-sance, the City will abate it and assess the to the property owner, including actual costs of abatement and an administrative fee of $25.
Right to appeal: You have the right to appeal this Notice to Abate Nuisance. A request for hearing must be made in writing to the City Clerk, 307 E. Monroe St., Mount Pleasant, Iowa, within 24 hours of the date of this Notice to Abate Nuisance.
