Mt. Pleasant planning East Madison Street project

East Madison in Mt. Pleasant will be completely replaced from North Jackson and east three blocks to North Adams in the coming months.

“Bids for the project will begin sometime in February,” Mt. Pleasant City Administrator Brent Schleisman said. “With construction to start as soon as weather permits.”

The construction project will be a complete tear out of the old concrete sections of the street and installing of new subgrade infrastructure such as water, sewer, electric and storm sewer.

Three intersections at Jackson and Madison, Broadway and Madison, and Main and Madison will all stay open to thru traffic during the project. Traffic will not be able to turn east or west during construction.
