Mt. Pleasant police investigate Monday hit and run

Mt. Pleasant police are investigating a hit and run collision that occurred Monday night.

According to a report from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, the department received a call at 9:23 p.m., Monday reporting a hit and run collision in the 200 block of North Plum Street.

Investigators determined that the offending vehicle turned southbound onto Plum Street from West Madison Street and collided with a 2014 Chevy Equinox parked in that block.

The report said that the offending vehicle then reversed into a tree before leaving the scene traveling eastbound on Madison Street.

Based on witness accounts and evidence located at the scene, investigators believe the vehicle to be a white Toyota sedan.

The investigation is considered ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident contact the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at 319-385-1450.
