Mt. Pleasant police officer attacked Tuesday

MT. PLEASANT — A Mt. Pleasant Police officer was attacked during an arrest following a theft report at Fast Break in Mt. Pleasant at 201 E. Washington St.
The suspect, David Hudnall, 31, of Mt. Pleasant, reportedly struck the officer in the face resulting in injuries that required medical attention when the officer attempted to arrest him Tuesday.
According to the police report, an officer taking a theft report spotted Hudnall in the store. Hudnall had an active probation warrant for his arrest and provided a false name to the officer when questioned.
Hudnall was eventually restrained, the report says.
Hudnall was charged with assault on a peace officer, carrying weapons and interference with official acts causing injury, all aggravated misdemeanors. Another charge of possession of methamphetamine is a Class D felony.
Hudnall was taken to the Henry County Jail where he is being held pending arraignment.
