Mt. Pleasant reminds residents of rules for fireworks
Jun. 9, 2021 12:40 pm
With the Fourth of July holiday coming up, the city of Mt. Pleasant reminds residents of the rules regarding fireworks in the city.
Fireworks are allowed to be used only:
• June 21-July 2, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
• July 3-4, 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
• July 5-6, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
Fireworks may not be used or exploded:
• On city property — including streets, parks and sidewalks — without specific permission from the City Council.
• On private property without permission of the owner.
• In a manner that deposits litter and waste on neighbor’s property, streets or sidewalks.
The police department will enforce these ordinances.
Persons violating these rules may receive tickets with fines from $50-$500 and may have their fireworks confiscated.
The rules apply to consumer fireworks only.
Commercial and display fireworks are not allowed without a special permit granted by the City Council.
Call the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at 319-385-1450 or City Hall at 319-385-1470 with any questions.
