A pair of show choirs from the Mt. Pleasant Community School District earned top placings in competition the past weekend.
InMotion, the high-school show choir, captured first place in Class 3A during daytime competition Saturday at the Stars of the Spotlight Invitational at Ft. Madison High School. The show choir qualified for the finals and finished as second runner-up behind grand champion Davenport North and Muscatine.
InMotion?s Garrett Carlston was selected as the Best Male Vocalist.
Chain Reaction, the middle-school show choir, notched first place in the middle-school division.
InMotion? next peformance will be Saturday, March 22, at the Red Carpet Gala at West Delaware High School, Manchester.
In still more music competition from the weekend, the two high-school jazz bands and middle-school jazz band participated in the Southeast Iowa Bandmasters Association?s District Jazz Festival hosted at Iowa City West High School Saturday.
MPCHS jazz II, directed by Laura Westfall, won its division. More than 60 middle- and high-school jazz bands performed at the event.
