Mt. Pleasant Veterans’ Day events to attend

MT. PLEASANT - A chili cook-off will be held at the Veterans’ Hall in Mt. Pleasant from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Tickets are $10, with a participant fee of $15. For more, contact valuingallveterans@gmail.com.
A dinner in honor of those who served will be hosted at Faith Lutheran Church on Sunday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with an a capella performance. The event is exclusive to veterans, but each vet may bring one guest. Free reservations can be made until Friday, Nov. 7. For more information, call 319-385-8427.
Tuesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day itself, will bring an event at the Veterans’ Hall. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m., and will feature a three-volley salute, a choir performance by Mt. Pleasant High School, and an invocation and benediction by Pastor Richard Wilson of the Open Bible Church in Winfield.
