Mt. Pleasant woman charged with four felony offenses

MT. PLEASANT - A Mt. Pleasant woman was arrested and charged with four felony offenses after allegedly burglarizing a residence in the city of Rome.
Lacey Woodsmall, 38, of Mt. Pleasant was confronted by residents of West Market Street on Tuesday afternoon after being caught burglarizing a local home, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff's Office. When confronted, Woodsmall assaulted one of the residents before fleeing the scene by foot according to the release.
The Sheriff's Office was notified of the incident at 3:14 p.m. and was able to locate Woodsmall 'a short time later,” the release states.
Woodsmall was arrested and charged with burglary causing injury, stalking in violation of a protective order, criminal mischief and theft. The release notes Woodsmall's bond is listed at $25,000.
Woodsmall is also facing first-degree burglary charges from an incident earlier in the week. An investigation by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department found Woodsmall was allegedly responsible for taking a six-week-old puppy and fishing equipment on Sunday, May 10 from another residence in the area according to a previous news release.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Lacey Woodsmall, 38, of Mt. Pleasant is facing four felony charges for allegedly burglarizing a home in Rome. Woodsmall is also facing burglary charges after taking a puppy and fishing equipment from a Mt. Pleasant residence earlier in the week according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
