Maharishi University of Management hosted its first job fair last June 1 in what it hopes will become an annual tradition.
Fourteen local companies sent representatives to participate. The lobby of the university?s Argiro Student Center was abuzz with activity from students, community members, alumni, and business owners. Students enjoyed connecting and exploring job, volunteer and internship opportunities with the Fairfield businesses.
MUM is home to students studying a wide variety of fields, including Sustainable Living, Media and Communications, Business and Accounting, Computer Science, Physiology and Health, Art, and Education. In order to appeal to the students' array of interests, the job fair included restaurants, magazines, schools, energy companies, investment research advisors, and more.
Many MUM students feel a strong tie to the Fairfield community. In fact, four of the companies that participated in the job fair are owned by alumni (Cider House, Heavenly Organics, iPhone Life and Ideal Energy). Additionally, 58 percent of the 2015 undergraduates decided to stay in the state of Iowa after graduating. It?s no wonder that Fairfield boasts a robust economy comprised of businesses in many different sectors.
The job fair participants were:
Ideal Energy, Cambridge Investments Research Advisors, Fairfield Economic Development Association, Fairfield CoLab, Danaher Oil, iPhone Life, Heavenly Organics, Maharishi School Age of Enlightenment, Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield Young Professionals, Enlightened Leadership International, Green Building Supply, Genetic ID and Jefferson County Cider House.
