Murder-suicide suspected in Louisa County slayings
WAPELLO - Three people died in an apparent murder/suicide in Louisa County, Friday.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Jessie Smith and Evan Massey each died of gunshot wounds inflicted by Kirk Massey and Kirk Massey died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

WAPELLO - Three people died in an apparent murder/suicide in Louisa County, Friday.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Jessie Smith and Evan Massey each died of gunshot wounds inflicted by Kirk Massey and Kirk Massey died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shootings occurred at the Kirk Massey residence in Louisa County at approximately 1:10 p.m., Friday afternoon. Kirk and Evan Massey were still alive upon the arrival at the residence of a Louisa County sheriff's deputy. Kirk Massey was transported to Great River Medical Center and Evan Massey was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals. Both died shortly after their respective arrivals.
The Louisa County Sheriff's Office has released the following statement from the family of Jessie Smith and Evan Massey: "The family of Jessie and Evan "Roy" wish to express their sincere gratitude to Wapello, Mediapolis and the surrounding communities for the support they have shown. Jessie and Evan will be greatly missed."
