The Mt. Pleasant High School Panther Marching Band took top honors Saturday night at the 42nd Annual Davis County Festival of Bands in Bloomfield. They placed first in class 3A and were named Best Band Overall as well as winning caption awards for best color guard, drum majors, drumline and winds in their class and for all bands competing. On Saturday, Oct. 8, the band will be competing in the evening at the Clark County Parade of Champions in Kahoka, Mo. The Panther Marching Band is comprised of 179 members from grades nine through 12. The drum majors, pictured above, are Leah Johnson, left, and QianQian Ye, right. This year?s show is titled ?Magic To Do? and features music from the Broadway musical ?Pippin? and includes the songs ?Magic To Do/On The Right Track?, ?Morning Glow? and ?Finale?. Jim DePriest is in his 25th year as director of the Mt. Pleasant High School Band. He is assisted by Laura Westfall, Adam Creager, Ron Coberley and color guard director Marlene DePriest.
