This photo was taken on Feb. 1, 1942; it is of the seventh and eighth grade boys? basketball team. Front row from left, Coach Joe Siverly, Buzzy Hopson, Wendell Dodds, Ed Chaney, Vincent Bacino; middle row, Richie Dickson, Bill Jerome, Paul Sinnit, Art Henry, Don Craig, Dick McBeth, Dick Hill; back row, Farrel Hontz, unknown, Jim Sorenson, Bob Ehrhart, Pat Ehrhart, Bob Scarff and Eugene Welcher.

Andrew McBeth identified his father; Kay Young recognized a few of the boys; Ed and Marge Chaney identified everyone.

Mary Beth Stanley Young shared this about Coach Joe Siverly: ?Joe was a dear friend of my dad. He was drafted at the time of WWII and went to the South Pacific. For a time our family would receive packages and letters from him. This was very exciting for all of us. Joe was engaged to be married when he left. When we received word Joe had died, I think at Iwo Jima, it was a very sad day in our home.?

Staff Sergeant, Joseph S. Siverly, Co. C, 7th Infantry U.S. Army, entered the service Nov. 7, 1942 and died of wounds received in action on Okinawa on April 16, 1945.
