New act coming to Washington performing arts series
Feb. 10, 2023 12:15 am
Take a step back in time to the old-fashioned family entertainment from the era of vaudeville. Washington Performing Arts is proud to provide an action-packed show filled with comedy, tricks, as well as song and dance for an afternoon’s entertainment. Parallel Exit will perform in the Hanson Auditorium of the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center, Sunday Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. The Performing Arts Center is in the new high school at 1111 South Avenue B, Washington, Iowa.
Parallel Exit is a New York City-based nouveau vaudeville company of three, mixing song and dance with slapstick physical comedy to produce a delightful show for any audience. Performing since 1997, Parallel Exit knows how to entertain! They provide a terrific show for the whole family — a fine way to have fun together while learning a bit about how the vaudeville circuit entertained a century ago. Each performer is experienced and talented in this genre and they work beautifully together.
“Parallel Exit creates compelling stories that are family-friendly, cultivating art that speaks to a culturally boundless audience of any age,” a statement from the show’s website said. “Productions have received both local and international praise for their inventiveness, energy, and originality.”
The show is intended for all ages. Kindergarten through 12th grade students may attend for free. Ticket sales and more information are available at washingtonauditorium.org.
