The boat dock removed from Bonnifield Lake has been replaced with a ramp for trolling motor boats only.
The ramp was completed with approval of the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department and with assistance from the Fairfield Water Department.
The dock at the lake was removed when swimming was re-instated to eliminate the risk of divers. Volunteer Frank Wintroub said the dock has now been replaced with a ramp for people to back their boats into the water.
Wintroub also reported the lake has been goose free for the last 10 days. This is the first time since the beach opened that geese have not been spotted at the lake, he said.
Because the beach has been free of geese and their droppings for nearly two weeks, volunteers will no longer be fencing the beach to deter geese each evening.
