New District Court Judge selected

The 8B District Court Judges met on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, to interview for the District Associate Judge vacancy, which was created when Judge Mark Kruse was appointed to serve as a District Court Judge. The District Associate Court position serves Des Moines and Louisa counties in Iowa.

The 8B District Court Judges selected Jennifer Slocum Bailey, of Burlington. Bailey is a native of Burlington. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Criminology in 2002 and received her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2005.

Bailey was an associate attorney at the Burlington law firm of Aspelmeier, Fisch, Power, Engberg and Helling until 2007. She was an Assistant County Attorney at the Des Moines County Attorney?s Office from 2007 to 2014. Bailey then joined the Iowa State Public Defender?s Office in 2014 and acted as an Assistant Public Defender until she accepted the position of District Associate Judge.

Bailey began her duties as a District Associate Court Judge on Feb. 12, 2016.
