MONTEZUMA ? Another quick start led to another New London win on Friday night as the Tigers topped Montezuma 36-20 in district play.
New London exploded in the first half offensively and led 30-12 at halftime, and the Braves couldn?t stage a comeback as the Tigers began district play with a win.
Junior quarterback Isaac McSorley rushed for three touchdowns in the win. Dallas Bell had the biggest score of the night, scoring on a kick-return, and Javis Krieger added one rushing touchdown.
The Tiger defense had another stellar night, especially in pass defense. New London picked off Montezuma quarterback Clay Krouise three times in the win.
The Class A District 6 field looks to be turning into a three-team race. Pekin and Lynville-Sully scored a couple of dominating wins to stay undefeated.
New London will look to stay unscathed on Friday, Sept. 22, when the Tigers take on an 0-5 North Mahaska team at home. That game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
