New London girls drop season opener at Highland

RIVERSIDE ? It was a tough start to the season for the New London basketball team, having to play a stacked Highland team in their first game on Tuesday night.
The Huskies used dominant first and third quarters to take down the young Tigers, 64-25.
The more experienced Highland team got out to a fast start in the first quarter, winning the period, 17-2.

RIVERSIDE ? It was a tough start to the season for the New London basketball team, having to play a stacked Highland team in their first game on Tuesday night.
The Huskies used dominant first and third quarters to take down the young Tigers, 64-25.
The more experienced Highland team got out to a fast start in the first quarter, winning the period, 17-2.
The Tigers calmed down in the second quarter, sticking with Highland throughout, but the Huskies still held a 31-15 halftime lead.
Highland ran away with the game in the third quarter, outscoring New London 26-5. After a low scoring fourth quarter, the Huskies walked out with a 39-point win.
Breanna Mettler had a big game, scoring 12 points and pulling down seven rebounds in the loss to lead the Tigers.
Madysen Wahls scored six points and finished with four rebounds and four assists.
Alisha Boles had four points and six rebounds on the night. Camryn Blint had two points and led the team with three steals, and Ashley Birdsell had one point and three rebounds.
New London has another tough matchup in their next game. They?ll host No. 12 Notre Dame on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m.
