New London man arrested for drunken driving Friday

A New London man who was stopped for speeding Friday, Dec. 21, was taken into custody after an investigation revealed he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 78 and Oasis Avenue in Winfield on Friday, Dec. 21, at approximately 10:30 p.m. It was determined that Joshuia Edgington, of New London, had been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Edgington was taken into custody and placed in the Henry County Jail. He was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor, and cited for speeding in a 55 mile per hour zone.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
