A New London man is recovering at an Iowa City hospital after he was seriously injured in an accident Oct. 5 at Pioneer Hi-Bred in Mt. Pleasant.
Ron Noll, 50, was working over the bins where grain is stored when he fell into the open bid doors and was caught between them said his wife, Diane Noll. Ron Noll suffered a crushed pelvis. He has undergone surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and is facing more surgeries in the near future, Diane Noll said.
She said her husband could be moved to a rehabilitation center when he is well enough, but likely will not be home for at least six weeks.
Ben Moore, manager of the plant, said he could not discuss the details of the accident, but said everyone at Pioneer is hoping for Noll's complete recovery.
Diane Noll said many of her husband's co-workers and friends from church have been calling and offering to help. She said a crew of men were cutting wood for their wood-heated home last weekend and are planning to cut more wood this weekend.
"We've been very lucky," she said.
Diane Noll said her husband has some paralysis in his left side, but doctors are hopeful that will go away in time.
