New London to host soup supper this weekend

The New London Holiday Stroll Committee is hosting its Annual Soup Supper Event this Saturday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the New London Community Building.

“This is a yearly event we do to help raise money for our Holiday Stroll Events,” Committee Member Chelsea Boecker said. “Each event throughout the year is to help raise funds for the annual Holiday Stroll, which takes place in December. Everyone who is on the committee loves to bring joy to the little town of New London and help make the community a better place.”

The event will offer guests a range of options, with chili, chicken noodle soup, gumbo and rice, and keto ham and potato soup on the menu. Those who attend can get a bowl of soup and dessert for $6, with proceeds going to the Holiday Stroll in December.

“It pays for the face painting artist, character artist, the ice carver, the clown, because all of that stuff costs money,” she said.

Boecker said the Holiday Stroll was a cause she was happy to raise money for.

“The way I explain it is like a Hallmark movie coming to New London, like an old-fashioned Christmas,” she said. “Last year was one of the biggest turnouts we’ve ever had. Everybody was excited to get out and get back to normal.”
