New London woman wins Lottery

Darcy Oliver of New London won the eighth and final top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Lucky Stars” scratch game. Oliver purchased her ticket at 501 E. Mt. Pleasant St. in West Burlington.

“I bought three tickets in the morning,” said Oliver. “And I won $20 off of those, and then I went back later that day at lunch, and bought three more with my prize earnings.”

One of Oliver’s tickets was a $100,000 winner.

“I paid off my car,” said Oliver. “I also plan on spoiling my niece and nephew a little more than they are already.”

Oliver also plans on donating to a local animal shelter and perhaps she will use the proceeds to buy a new home. The winnings allowed Oliver to pay off her debts and now she will have some proceeds for extra things.

“It was a very good thing,” said Oliver. “Most unexpected.”
