New Mt. Pleasant apartments get tax break
Midwest Realty to build apartments by Walmart

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant City Council approved a 10-year property tax abatement for the development of four apartment buildings on the N. Cherry Street lot across from Walmart.
Midwest Realty is working to build four apartment buildings with 12 units each on the lot to help with the major housing shortage in Mt. Pleasant.
The council passed a motion to approve the payment for Shive-Hattery for the supervision of construction. Meaning the city will now start construction on the North East Lagoon Project.
Along with the payment of Shive-Hattery they approved the plans on file for the construction of the project and authorized the mayor to sign an engagement letter with Piper Sandler for financial advice on the State Revolving Fund Loan.
They approved a bid letting and public hearing date for the construction of the Northeast Lagoon project the bid letting will be held on Aug. 12 and the public hearing will be on Aug. 25
In other news, they approved IronKlad art as the sign vendor for signage at Saunders Park Plaza for $14,885.51.
The council also approved hiring Smith Construction to repair a portion of the city rec trail on Linden Drive in the Ashford Park subdivision.
