New Washington County ambulance department purchases ambulances, other equipment

The new Washington County Ambulance Department, which will launch operations July 1, continued to take shape purchasing two ambulances, emergency equipment, office equipment and drafting an equipment lease agreement with Washington County Ambulance, Inc., the current provider of ambulance service to the county. The supervisors approved the purchases but tabled the lease agreement pending attorney review when they met in regular session Tuesday, May 5. Supervisors Richard Young and Bob Yoder were absent from the meeting.
The purchase price of the agreement to purchase the materials is $198,600 payable as follows:
*$40,000 payable within 30 days after signing of the agreement;
*$83,600 payable not later than July 15 of this year and
*75,000 not later than August 15 of this year.
One of the two ambulances is a 2003 model with 145,208 miles. The other is a 1996 model with 70,964 miles.
The equipment lease agreement calls for rent of '$1 and other valuable consideration” to lease the equipment until July 1.
Other Business
In other business, the supervisors:
*Approved an Iowa Department of transportation preconstruction agreement for paving four gravel side roads intersections along Highways 22;
*Acknowledged an Engineering Department personnel change request for a pay rate change for summer intern Benjamin Berhow;
*Approved an application for a tractor ride July 11 from the Eastern Kowa Sledheads subject to proof of insurance;
*Approved an Iowa Secretary of State Vote Safe Iowa Initiative grant application and
*Discussed a coronavirus update.
