WASHINGTON — A total of 54 Washington High School juniors and seniors qualified for National Honor Society earlier this month, after demonstrating volunteerism, commendable grades and leadership skills.
Superintendent Willie Stone said the district was tremendously proud of the students.
“Out of all the kids in our district, they’re kind of our leaders,” he said. “Not that all of our kids aren’t good kids, these are the ones that have risen to the top.”
The school celebrated with a banquet. The honor makes students eligible for a scholarship from the NHS, and is widely recognized as a significant achievement.
