NEW LONDON ? New London students and other school stakeholders now have a way to keep up to date on district announcements, cancellations and information, and it?s all at the click of a button.
The New London Community School District has officially launched a new mobile device app, which is now available for free download for iOS and Android devices. The app will give New London students, families, staff, community members, and alumni easy access to school information they use on a daily basis.
?Basically, this is a hub for all information about the district,? explains New London superintendent, Chad Wahls. ?We wanted it to be visible and accessible to everyone.?
Those interested in downloading the app can do so by opening their device?s app store and typing in ?New London CSD?, according to New London Community School District technology director, Jon Munford, who created the app.
?We wanted to go above and beyond what other schools are doing with this, and I think we succeeded,? said Munford, saying the app is just another step in New London?s efforts to bring the school closer to keeping up with common technology of today.
As of Monday afternoon, roughly over 200 people have already downloaded the app, which was launched late last week. Munford says the positive response received from the community regarding the app affirms the app?s usefulness.
Wahls insists that while the app is meant to be a major, portable information hub for the district, it will not be a replacement of the school?s website, Facebook page or Twitter page, but rather an extension.
For more information regarding the app, visit the New London Community School District website at www.nlcsd.org, or call the district at 319-367-0512.
