EDDYVILLE ? 10th-ranked (2A) Eddyville-Blakesburg wasn?t what the doctor ordered for Pekin to get back in the win column and the Rockets ran away with a 13-3 victory in five innings Wednesday afternoon.
E-B jumped on Panther starter Seth Jensen with five runs in the opening frame before the sophomore knuckleballer settled in. Jensen ended up going four innings, allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits and struck out one.
Nazareth Rambo entered to pitch one inning of relief, and the Rockets put up eight runs in the final two innings to put the 10-run rule into play.
Derek Morales put the Panthers on the board with a two-RBI single in the third to cut the lead to 5-3. Morales finished 2-2 at the plate while Graham Wittrock picked up the other hit.
Next up for Pekin is a conference doubleheader Friday night at Louisa-Muscatine before going back to Letts for tournament play Saturday.
