MT. PLEASANT - While Mt. Pleasant has seen several hotly-contested races this year, some were just the opposite. Several city council members and School Board officials achieved country-mile victories, with no opposition whatsoever.
Terry McWilliams won his seat on City Council with 918 votes, compared to only 17 write-in ballots against him. That’s 98.18% of the vote.
Bob Griffith’s victory was even broader. Of 227 votes tallied, only one was cast against him. That’s 99.559%, earning him reelection to Ward 2 of the City Council.
Matthew Barton, of City Council’s Ward 4, received 246 votes, 100% of those tallied.
Joshua Maher won the race for School Board with 1,368 votes out of 1,411, 96.95%.
