No injuries after explosion at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant Friday

There were no injuries after an explosion at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown on Friday, Dec. 21, at 9 a.m.
The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant reported around 11 a.m. on Friday that the fire from the explosion was safely put out and there was no danger to the community.
The explosion occurred during ammunition production operations. The plant said that because of efforts to adhere to strict safety standards, there were no injuries associated with the accident.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant produces and delivers component assembly, medium and large caliber ammunition items for the Department of Defense using modern production methods in support of worldwide operations.
