Authorities say no one was injured when part of a historic building collapsed in downtown Albia in south central Iowa.
Police Chief Jay Andrews says part of the roof and a wall gave way at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. He says no one was in the building at the time.
The two-story building on the town square was built in 1875. Andrews says the section of the building that collapsed was vacant. The other side houses an industrial development organization.
Andrews says there were no warning signs of the collapse. He says a structural engineer will survey the damage and determine if the building can be saved.
Andrews doesn?t know the original purpose of the building, saying it housed several different businesses over the years.
