A Mt. Pleasant woman was cited for failure to obey a stop sign following a two-vehicle accident on Saturday.
The Mt. Pleasant Police were called to the intersection of North Cherry Street and East Baker Street at 8:28 a.m., Saturday, March 28 for a report of a two-vehicle collision.
Police reports indicate Savanna Blair, of Mt. Pleasant, had stopped her gold 2005 Dodge Stratus at the stop sign facing north on Cherry Street. Blair began to pull into Baker Street, to enter the Wal-Mart parking lot, when a white 2009 Ford delivery truck, owned by Smitty?s Distributing Inc., of Mt. Pleasant, and operated by Richard Smith, also of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling east on Baker Street. Smith had the right-of-way.
Blair failed to yield to the cross traffic and pulled out into Baker Street. Smith attempted to swerve but struck Blair. Blair?s vehicle was caught up in the rear under carriage of the delivery truck.
Damage to the deliver truck was estimated at $700, while damage to the gold Dodge was $10,000 or totaled.
No injuries were reported and Blair was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
