There were no new cases of COVID-19 in Washington, Henry and Jefferson counties on Thursday. This was the first time there hasn't been at least one new case in any of the three counties since March.
With no new confirmed cases locally, Washington County's total remains at 163. Henry County remains at 43. Jefferson County remains at nine.
Across the rest of Iowa, the state saw 386 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 13,675 cases. The state also saw 12 additional deaths, bringing the total number of Iowans who have died due to COVID-19 to 318. The individuals who were reported to have died were residents of Black Hawk, Dallas, Dubuque, Guthrie, Jasper, Linn, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk and Webster counties.
During her Thursday news conference, Gov. Kim Reynolds said the state lab has finished the process yesterday and validated Test Iowa lab equipment and found it to have more than 95% accuracy for detecting positive cases and 99% accuracy for detecting negative cases.
Reynolds added that a call center for Test Iowa will be established in 'the next few days.” The call center will be able to answer questions and resolve any issues Reynolds said.
Around the state, Iowa has had 35 outbreaks in long-term care facilities. Over half of Iowa's deaths due to COVID-19 have been residents living in long-term care facilities.
'Tragically, 180 or 57% of Covid-19 deaths in Iowa have been residents of LTC facilities,” Iowa Department of Public Health Deputy Direcor Sarah Reisetter said during Thursday's news conference.
One of the 35 outbreaks is located at the McCreedy Home in Washington County, which has seen 35 total positive cases of COVID-19.
As of Thursday, 89,294 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19. That total number is equal to 1 out of 35 Iowans.
6,231 Iowans have been reported as confirmed recovered from the virus according to IDPH data.
