A burn ban has been put in place throughout Jefferson County.
Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Vaughan said the ban began at 3 p.m. Tuesday and will continue until the area receives some rain.
No burning of any sort, including fire pits and burn barrels, is allowed, Vaughan said this morning.
But, he added, residents can use their normal gas and charcoal barbecue grills.
?Make sure the coals are completely out before you dump them and have some water nearby so it doesn?t spark a fire,? he advised.
?It doesn?t look like we?ll be getting rain any time soon,? Vaughan said, but the National Weather Service?s seven-day forecast for Fairfield does include a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both Friday night and Saturday and then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday.
