Three seats on the Fairfield Community School Board of Directors will be determined in this year?s election set for Sept. 8.
The terms of board members Sheila Clements, Jeri Kunkle and Bob Waugh expire this year.
?I plan on running,? Waugh said during the school board meeting Monday evening.
Waugh has picked up his nomination packet and plans to return it today.
Kunkle also has picked up a nomination packet, but she isn?t as far along in the process as Waugh.
?I?m still considering, but I have the packet,? she said.
?I?m pretty sure I am not running,? said Clements.
Board president Gail Miller thanked Clements for her service to the school district. ?We appreciate what you?ve done,? she said.
Superintendent Don Achelpohl encouraged anyone interested in serving on the school board to do so.
Nomination papers are available from the school district?s business manager and board secretary Kim Sheets at the Administrative/Curriculum/Technology Center, along with the Iowa Association of School Boards? free guide ?Leaders Who Care? to help answer potential candidates? questions about serving on the board.
Nomination papers must be signed by a minimum number of eligible voters in the Fairfield school district, and then filed with Sheets by 5 p.m. July 30.
