Noon hour crash on Grand Avenue

Two vehicles collided, causing injuries, at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Monroe Street. Mt. Pleasant Police responded to the accident at approximately 12:09 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2003 Chevy sedan operated by Annabelle Bonser was traveling north on Grand Avenue. The Bonser vehicle then stopped and was waiting to turn west (left) onto Monroe Street when it was struck from behind by a 2003 Chevy sport utility vehicle being operated by Paige Wilson.

No addresses or ages of the drivers were given.

As a result of the accident, a passenger in the Bonser vehicle was transported by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center.

Combined damage to the vehicles was estimated at $4,000.

Wilson was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance ahead and failure to prove security against liability.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, the Henry County Ambulance and Breuer Wrecker Service.
