Warner Engineering Asssociates, Inc., the general contractor for the North Iris Street reconstruction project estimates that it will be at least another week until North Iris Street will be open from Washington Street to Winfield Avenue.
Last Friday, the street was opened to the south side of 235th Street, which allows Alaniz and CECO employees access to their parking lots from Iris Street.
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad is still finishing its work on the railroad crossing and hopes to be done by the first week of January.
When the railroad is finished with its crossing, North Iris Street will be opened from Washington Street to Winfield Avenue.
Warner Engineering urges motorists to use care when traveling on Iris Street because the 235th Street intersection has only been graveled for temporary use for now. This (intersection) has been graveled for temporary use only. This is for access to farmers who own land adjacent to 235th street.
The engineer also reminds motorists that North Iris Street is not open to through traffic. The area south of Commerce Drive is for use only by CECO and Alaniz employees until the railroad crossing has been completed.
Industry Avenue in the Crossroads Industrial Park was graveled south to 235th Street for temporary use during construction. The road (Industry Avenue) is soft and when large trucks travel on it, they create ruts.
Warner advises using this section of Industry Avenue and if you do not own land in the construction area or work at CECO or Alaniz, don?t use North Iris Street south of Commerce Drive until the railroad crossing has been completed.
