Warner Engineering Associates, Inc., the engineering firm for the North Iris Street project, said work just be finishing on the first phase (Walmart Distribution driveway north to Winfield Avenue) should be finishing up by the end of the week of May 12.
Driveways to the Walmart Distribution Center are being poured early this week and plans are to have them poured and cured by Wednesday, May 7, weather permitting.
Walmart Distribution has set up its own detour on its south exit lane to Iris Street. Exiting semis on the north side of the exit lane and allowing cars and pickups of drivers enter along the south side. The two lanes are separated by cones placed by Walmart Distribution.
Shipley Contracting is planning to pave the half width of the new paving, either today or tomorrow, from the north end of the white topping to where it is tied into Winfield Avenue. At the same time, they will be working on the area on North Iris Street at the Walmart entrances to extend the paving and additional 40 feet south.
There will be no detour changes this week as all road closures will remain status quo. When phase I of the project is opened to Walmart Distribution traffic only, it will be opened from Winfield Avenue south to the distribution driveways. No through traffic will be allowed.
Bob Troutman of Warner Engineering said the firm is pleased with the project. ?We are getting a lot of work done even with the wet weather we have been dealing with,? Troutman remarked.
