Oakland Mills center closes to the public

MT. PLEASANT - The Oakland Mills Nature Center in Henry County will be closed to the public until further notice starting Wednesday.

The department announced it will be canceling several events and moving others to a virtual format in response to new restrictions announced on Monday in response to the pandemic.

The Snowflake Craft Party on Dec. 1 and the ACORN Annual Holiday Potluck and Movie event on Dec. 18 are both canceled.

The Beasts and Haunted Places in Iowa program slated for Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. will be held virtually and can be accessed at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84162277651?pwd=Yy9FcUp4bkdtWno1Z3hWeUh6aEFlZz09 or through the meeting ID (841 6227 7651) and the pass code (1aG5Z5).

The department's New Year's day hike, slated for Jan. 1 at 10 a.m., is tentatively on schedule for the time being.
