A resolution is in the process to allow the Henry County Conservation Board to relocate Oakland Mills historical monuments.
The resolution will give the conservation board the authority to relocate the markers if needed. They would also oversee and care for the monuments.
These include historical benches, flagpoles, and any other dedications.
With the land being sold and the area potentially being expanded with a parking lot or elevated due to being in a flood plain, the monuments may have to be moved.
The historical markers will stay on Henry County Conservation ground if need be moved.
Henry County Conservation Director Caleb Waters said he's willing to work alongside whoever purchases the property.
"If they have a plan, whoever the buyer is and whatever their plan is, I'd be willing to work with them to move them," Waters said. "Until then, I don't want to move them unless I absolutely have to."
