A correctional officer at the Henry County Jail was assaulted by an inmate on Friday, June 22 at 2:15 a.m.
Inmate Cameron Edwards, of Mt. Pleasant, was in the process of being booked on other charges received from another incident when he assaulted a correctional officer last week, striking the officer in the temple area of his head. Edwards was charged with interference with a correctional official causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Edwards was also charged with two accounts of harassment in the second degree, a serious misdemeanor, for threats made toward a correctional officer and a Henry County Sheriff?s deputy.
