Officers investigate accidents
Mt. Pleasant Police Department officers responded to a pair of accidents this week.
Officers were called to a two-vehicle accident near Mt. Pleasant Electric on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet, operated by Kyle Kirchner, had been stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Polk and Washington streets.

Mt. Pleasant Police Department officers responded to a pair of accidents this week.
Officers were called to a two-vehicle accident near Mt. Pleasant Electric on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet, operated by Kyle Kirchner, had been stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Polk and Washington streets.
The Kirchner vehicle then proceeded to back up, striking a 2013 Chevrolet, operated by Sonia Stokesberry who had been stopped behind the Kirchner vehicle.
Combined damage was estimated at $8,000. No injuries were reported and Kirchner was cited for unsafe backing.
The second accident occurred Sept. 22 on Grand Avenue near Mt. Pleasant Community High School.
According to the accident report, a 2009 Kia, operated by Julie Snavely, had been traveling south on Grand Avenue. The Kia pulled over onto the west shoulder and attempted to make a ?u? turn (turning left) when the Snavely vehicle entered the southbound lane of Grand Avenue before being struck by a southboud 2005 Chevrolet operated by Teresa Peitz.
Both vehicles were considered a total loss.
A female passenger in the Peitz vehicle was transported to the Henry County Health Center via ambulance for treatment of possible injuries.
Julie Snavely was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, the Henry County Ambulance and Dave?s Towing and Recovery.
