Offices shut down for holiday
A number of public buildings will be closed for Thanksgiving. All Washington Community School students from the high school, junior high, Stewart Elementary and Lincoln Elementary will be released at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday and return to classes on Tuesday. St. James Elementary will dismiss at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.

A number of public buildings will be closed for Thanksgiving. All Washington Community School students from the high school, junior high, Stewart Elementary and Lincoln Elementary will be released at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday and return to classes on Tuesday. St. James Elementary will dismiss at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.
City employees will have Thursday and Friday off. The buildings that will be closed to the public on those two days include city hall, the water plant, the wastewater plant, the parks department office, the public works building and the maintenance and construction office. The maintenance garage will have a crew on stand-by in case of an emergency. To report a problem with a traffic light or any other concern with public property, contact the Safety Center at 653-2107.
All Washington County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. This includes the offices in the courthouse such as the auditor, the board of supervisors, the clerk of court, the county attorney, the elections commissioner, GIS and the recorder as well as departments within the treasurer?s office such as the driver?s license office, the department of motor vehicles and the tax department.
The other county offices that will be closed Thursday and Friday are the assessor, community services, the county engineer, the maintenance garage, environmental health, the extension service, human services, mental health and disabilities, the outreach center, the probation offices and veterans affairs.
