Leroy Van Dyke and his Country Gold entertainment gang heads the 2012 list of entertainers for the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion Aug. 30 through Sept. 3 in Mount Pleasant.
The entertainers for the annual event were announced Wednesday during an ?Alive After Five? event at the Rodeway Inn in Mount Pleasant.
Appearing with Van Dyke Aug. 30 will be Leona Williams, T.G. Sheppard, Narvel Felts and Rex Allen Jr.
Aug. 31, two acts will be on stage: Glen Templeton and LoCash Cowboys.
Thompson Square is the entertainment for Sept. 1, and the Eli Young Band round out the entertainment Sept. 2.
However, Old Threshers is much more than entertainment. Old Threshers officials are excited about the improvements including the new Paul Anderson Welcome Center that will be ready for this year?s reunion.
?We are embarking on one of the most aggressive programs we have ever done,? said Lennis Moore, Old Threshers CEO. ?All will be done by the start of Old Threshers, I hope. It is aggressive, and it is going to be fun. Basically, everything will be moved.?
The Anderson Welcome Center, named after the longtime volunteer Threshers accountant, will face Walnut Street.
Paul and Joyce Dennison have been chosen as grand marshals for this year?s Threshers parade.
Terry McWilliams, Threshers public relations director, said Aug. 30 will be Veterans Day with all veterans admitted for half price. They can also ride free on the Midwest Central Railroad that day. Fireworks at night will cap the day.
The initial Old Threshers Golf Tournament is planned for June 22. The 18-hole tourney will benefit the Old Threshers Foundation.
Single-day admission to the reunion is $12, while season tickets are $20. Kids, 10-under, are admitted free.
