MT. PLEASANT — The Midwest Old Threshers Reunion is only weeks away and the Old Threshers grounds are gearing up for the first time in over a year after last year’s reunion was canceled due to COVID-19.
The reunion is looking to have things as close to normal as possible, and it is encouraging visitors to do what they have to, to stay safe.
“It’s great just seeing everyone back this year, since last year when it was kind of quiet and didn’t get to see anyone, now it’s back to normal and get to see everyone’s faces again,” said Grant Davidson, the Midwest Old Threshers public relations and marketing officer.
“We’re going forward with everything as normal, and everyone should do what they need to, to stay safe, but we’re ready to get back to having some good old family fun,” he added.
The entertainment for the Midwest Old Threshers is lined up to keep visitors pouring in from the regular tractors and engines, to the museums to food, the reunion will have it all this year with even better grandstand entertainment lined up for this year.
Grandstand entertainment for the reunion includes Lorrie Morgan, Carly Pearce, Craig Morgan, and Rodney Atkins. All concerts start at 8 p.m. and the grandstands open at 6:30 p.m.
Lorrie Morgan will play at the grounds on Thursday, Sept. 2, a Nashville native with several platinum albums will be playing at Old Threshers as the debut performance of the weekend. Lorrie will be performing songs from her latest album “Letting go … Slow.” Lorrie’s performance has already sold out reserved seating. Call 319-385-8973 to ask about limited seating available.
Carly Pearce will perform Friday, Sept. 3, the platinum-certified pop-country singer will be performing at the reunion. With the most Country Music Awards nods for any new artist nominee in 2020, Carly led with New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and won Musical Event of the Year for her platinum-certified, No. 1 duet with Lee Brice.
Craig Morgan will take the stage Saturday, Sept. 4. As a multifaceted entertainer, Craig Morgan has made a name for himself as a country music icon, TV personality, celebrated outdoorsman and patriotic Army veteran. One of country music's best-loved artists, Morgan has charted 25 songs on Billboard and thrills massive crowds with signature hits including “Bonfire,” Almost Home,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” “International Harvester,” “This Ole Boy,” Wake Up Loving You” and the four-week No. 1 “That's What I Love About Sunday.”
Rodney Atkins will perform to the Old Threshers crowd on Sunday, Sept. 5. After more than two decades in country music, it's hard to imagine that the Tennessee-born Atkins could still treasure the difficult moments and the arduous process of creating a song from the ground up.
But he's just the kind of artist who loves the roots as much as the tree. With six No. 1 hits under his belt, four studio LP's and more than 13 million units sold, Atkins is more invested than ever in making honest, authentic records that tell a story and showcase his unique place in the world.
General admission to the music entertainment is free with admission to the grounds, reserved seating is optional but costs $10 dollars per person, per show. Visit shop.oldthreshers.com to buy tickets for the performances or admission for Old Threshers.
Admission for one day is priced at $15 dollars and multiday is priced at $35 dollars.
